I am not one to share my struggles I just felt this needed to be shared.
On September 19, 2008 I had went in for surgery to see if endometriosis was the cause of our infertility. This surgery was suppose to be only 45 mins long turned into a 4 and a half hours long. Not only did he have to get rid of the endometriosis but I had a 6 cm chocolate cyst on my right ovary and my left ovary was tucked behind my uterus it needed to be move to a better location. The Postoperative diagnosis was Stage IV endometriosis with bilateral edometriomas and massive pelvic adhesions. That is a lot to take in. But does explain the infertility. Ha well soon after that we started IVF treatment I became pregnant a year later with my Boys Gabriel and Foster.
Now fast forward to today.
On Monday, April 15, 2013 I went in to have surgery for abdominal pain. I had already known that is was due to the endometriosis. I had ultrasound done to see what could be causing the pain well my right ovary fell back behind my uterus when Foster was delivered via c-section and had 3 cyst on them measuring 6cm according to the ultrasound I asked the Dr to please move my right over from behind my uterus he thought that was a good idea. Because of my past surgery he thought that that things could not be as bad as before he estimated the surgery taking about 2 and a half to 3 hours but again it took 4+ hours. What was not expected is that the endometriosis is as high as my liver. This concerns me because I worry about it getting too high and what kind of problem it can cause. I just do not have the knowledge about this disease. I do know it causes infertility and pain. I asked him if I had a chance of getting pregnant on my own and he have me a 10% chance. This is a little disheartening to me because I would love to add one more and I am not going through IVF again. Don't take me wrong I am very thankful for the my boys and the family we have. I have not received the postop report yet I am interested to see what the dr thinks about the future. My follow up appointment is on the 30th
I do want to find a way to make this better for me I worry about being put on hormones and other things to slow the growth. The Dr said their is no cure for endometriosis, pregnancy slows the growth and so does menopause or hysterectomy.
I have tried to get information online but, I am not sure how accurate it is some of the things said makes sense to me. I hope this is the last surgery I will ever have and that I am able to learn more about this disease and find some ways to ease it without too much intervention.
